The SlideRule Cup is a season points championship (March 1st through October 31st) open to all drivers in all classes of Solo II (Autocross) competition. NERDS Racing is not associated with any particular racing organization, so SlideRule Cup drivers will receive points for competing in any sanctioned Solo II/Autocross event with any club or region. Points are awarded according to how the driver finishes according to the rules of that particular club.

For instance, an M2 class driver in the Porsche Club of America can compete directly with an H-Stock SCCA driver on an equal footing. One of the goals of the SlideRule Cup is to encourage drivers to try other clubs and regions in the area, so competitors will be rewarded for racing with multiple organizations.

  • First to join the sponsor list for the SlideRule Cup is the Evolution Driving School.  Jean Kinser-Dana is going to make available two schools for top placing male and female during the '05 year.  Plus discounts and t-shirts for other top finishers.

  • Second on the sponsor list for the SlideRule Cup is Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.  Scott Lear, Club Editor, said [it] "sounds very interesting..." and that they'd be happy to supply year-end winners with some subscription prizes and a few t-shirts.

  • Jill Canuso of Monster Plates has supplied the SlideRule Cup with stickers for all the entrants who sign up.  Toward the end of the year we've talked about having a set of magnetic number made for the top finisher.

  • Third to join the sponsor list is EventPhotoNow.com headed by Terry "TAZ" Zorich.  Terry will be visiting various autocross events and taking photos.  Top "nerd" will receive a certificate for a free 11x14 print, and the next four (4) "nerds" 8x10s.

  • Even though this sponsor is not be on the SlideRule Cup stickers, Brian Yoder of UncleFesterMotorsports will be offering t-shirts and finacial assistance with year-end awards and trophies.

  • Perry Aidelbaum is offering both ad space for free on AutoX4u.com, but also offering year-end t-shirts.  Since the top contenders are already receiving lots 'o stuff, we're considering offering these and some other prizes for novice drivers.

  • Grassroots Digital Media, grdmedia.com is proud to be included as a sponsor of the SlideRule Cup. You'll find us at upcoming autocross and track day events promoting digital video acquisition of your motorsports skills.  So far for the 2005 year, GRD has supplied a DVD player.

  1. The NERDS Racing SlideRule Cup is open to all Solo II/Autocross drivers.

  2. All sanctioned Solo II/Autocross events between March 1, 2005 and October 31, 2005 count for 2005 SlideRule Cup points.

  3. To be awarded points, drivers must display a 2005 SlideRule Cup sticker in a prominent place on their car at every SlideRule Cup event.

  4. Each driver receives points according to his or her finishing position in his or her own class according to the organization that is running the event. This includes Novice/Ladies classes if the event's sanctioning organization includes them.

  5. For each event attended the driver will receive five points. If the driver is awarded a trophy in his or her class, he or she receives and additional five points for a total of ten points. If the driver is awarded first place in their class they receive another five points for a total of fifteen points.  At the end of the SlideRule Cup the competitor's points will be totaled and multiplied by the number of organizations/regions that with which he or she has raced. For example: A driver attends one PCA event and wins the S2 class, attends two SJR events and wins BS at one and trophies at the second, and attends one Philly Region event and does not receive a trophy. The drivers points would receive (15 (1st place PCA) + 15 (1st place SJR) + 10 (trophy SJR) + 5 (attended Philly)) x 3 (competed with three organizations) = (15+15+10+5)x3=135 points.

  6. Results for each event must be verifiable, either over the internet or through direct contact with the sanctioning organization.

  7. In the event of a tie for any position in the final points standing, the number of class wins will be used to determine the winner. If the tie remains, the number of second place finishes will be used to determine the winner, and so on.

  8. Only one event per day can count toward the SlideRule CupWhy?
