Super-sized Action Van

It survived 10 people, with feet a stinkin', a snow aboundin' and wheels a screamin'.

Warning:  180s with an extended cab van should not be attempted by anyone under any condition, ever.  Vomiting might be the least of your worries.  You might suffer horrible injuries or die and stuff,... and that would be very, very bad.

If you'd like to experiment with automotive physics try autocrossing first!

What do you do when you can't race?... Go on vacation!

Gayle and I took a trip with eight other peeps to Salt Lake City, Utah for 4 days of skiing and a day of snowmobiling.

Sure we had fun skiing/boarding in some of the best powder conditions, eating at some of the best restaurants, and soaking in a decadent hot tub, but that's not what NERDS_racing is all about.  It's about driving, eh?

So... Our major mode of transportation?  Not a Jeep, not a Hummer, not any type 4-wheel drive vehicle. No, a Dodge 12-person Extended Cab Van.  It guzzled gas and spun the rear wheels on occasion.  Not exactly the most luxurious of rides, and certainly not the most sporty, but for ten people skiing/boarding, our "short-bus" served us well.  Mostly we sped up and down the access road to Brighton (ski area).  To the store, to the ski shop, to restaurants, even upscale ones, our van was perfect for every situation!  Oh and yes, we valet parked.  8)

Our chief, Mr. Hunt, served as driver for most of the weekend, but during one moment of glory, an (unnamed) substitute driver decided to see what this van could really do.  The pics to the left are frames from an mpg during a snowy test drive.  Can you say one-eighty?

Excellent H-stock contender?  With the strategically placed ballast (passengers), would this be considered an interior mod... STS perhaps?

Special Thanks to Weenie for taking all these wonderful pictures, to JD and Kim for making some excellent food, and to Gordon for bringing the Mystery Science 3000 DVD!
