Once there, it was a nice change of pace not to switch to R-compound tires and was looking forward to pushing the Azenis. They performed rather well, though I think I understand the term "they feel greasy when hot" now, but it didn't bother me in the least. Pocono spent some time and money repairing the infield apex areas with brand-spankin' new concrete patches thus eliminating the "wash-boards". As the run group I was in was preparing for the first track session out, one of Mark's friends came in with oil painted on the side of his car like flames. It looked like his (corrected: Eagle Talon, TSi AWD) was in serious trouble. We later found out that the oil dip-stick had melted to the shaft. I guess the mods were a bit much. I heard the guy say later that he should have left the car stock. We each had four sessions, but we could have had more. Their was a decent amount of cars, but no where near a full entry list. I need brake ducting!!! The only thing that kept me off the track was having to bleed and rebleed the brakes. So for the last session, I tried to keep the braking distances short, by braking hard and letting off sooner. Toward the end of the session having been passed by everything from a Spec Racer, to an Evo, I finally found a first gen RX-7 that was pacing the track at about the same speed. The weather was absolutely perfect, to the point of not even noticing the temperature. A slight breeze and a variable cloud cover kept things cool. PSCC is planning on running another track day event the same time next year, with the possible exception of making it a two-day event. __________________________________________________________________ "my friend mike blew all the coolant and oil out of his
engine at the pscc track day. plus he was shooting fire out of his
exhaust. here's some details and pictures... Thanks for the info. Mark!
